The “ La Moto Volante” – the Flying Motorcycle is based on his Lazareth LM 847 with a 350kW, 4.7-litre Maserati V8 that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016.Īt the center of each wheel hub is a powerful jet turbine, exhaust facing downward, similar to a quadcopter drone, but with much more power. With a 1850 mm wheelbase and four 17 ”wheels allow the bike to stable right the first mph, enough to counter the 490 Nm of torque. The French motorcycle company Lazareth have turned his Maserati V8-powered four-wheel leaning motorcycle into a flying version with jet turbines in the wheels. The two rear trailing arms are articulated around the primary transmission axes thus enabling the two chains to transmit optimally the 470 bhp. Brakes are provided by two 8-piston calipers on 420mm diameter perimeter discs. A detail, the brake levers are reversed to improve ergonomics and braking precision. The mechanism is found right inside the handlebar. My only question is, where's the fuel tank? The specifications are extraordinary: 4.7 liter Maserati V8 with a single speed torque converter unit, 4 wheel independent suspension (yes, it can lean!) with chain drive for both the rear wheels. The Lazareth LM 847 seems to be a manifestation of this pure need to create something magnificent and push the possibilities of what a motorcycle can be. That's needed because it accounts for instances where the necessity arises solely from the need to create as opposed to any other external factors.

"Necessity is the mother of invention." I like how this statement doesn't really define the nature of necessity, cause in doing so it allows room for subjectivity.
